Shahdag: Growth at the highest level
2025 marks another significant milestone in Shahdag’s success story. A comprehensive expansion of the snowmaking system is underway, with 99 TR9 snow guns, 32 TL8 lances, and three new pump stations. The project is being implemented in close cooperation with the local general contractor Archico LLC — a long-standing and trusted partner of TechnoAlpin. Shahdag is solidifying its position as a leader in establishing standards for a modern, high-performance winter sports destination. Local pride runs deep as the region hosted its first international event: the ISMF Ski Mountaineering World Cup 2025, which also serves as a qualifying competition for the 2026 Winter Olympics. More than 130 athletes from 26 countries took part in the event — and the conditions were perfect.
An major milestone was passed back in 2023: the complete snowmaking system for the new FIS stadium, a FIS-approved piste for international competitions. Thanks to state-of-the-art, fully automatic snowmaking, the system delivers ideal training and competition conditions — making it the first and only one of its kind in Azerbaijan.
The collaboration between TechnoAlpin and Shahdag dates back to 2010. A highly demanding yet remarkable project was the significant expansion in 2021, implemented amid the pandemic.
At that time, 131 TL4 snow guns, 21 TT10 lances, a completely new machine room with 14 pumps, 2 compressors, and 2 cooling towers, as well as over 35 km of pipes and electrical cables were installed within just six months under extremely difficult conditions. The project overcame complex logistics across nine national borders, tight deadlines, and on-site adjustments, making it a true achievement.
Long-standing partnership on track for growth
Since 2010, Shahdag has seen the installation of 332 fan guns, 220 lances, and four pump stations. This continuous growth reflects the confidence placed in TechnoAlpin’s ability to deliver bespoke, high-quality technical solutions.
Over the years, Shahdag has evolved to become a leading, forward-thinking winter sports destination, and we take pride in having been a part of this journey from the very beginning.
